LactiGlow | Lactic Acid Resurfacing + Hydration Serum
Lactic Acid Resurfacing + Hydration Serum
Gentle Exfoliation • Hydration • Smoother, Plumper-Looking Skin
Not every exfoliating acid needs to make your skin peel to work.
This gentle lactic acid serum combines surface renewal with hydration, helping smooth rough texture, refine the appearance of pores and fine lines, and leave skin feeling softer, more supple and comfortably hydrated.
Unlike more aggressive resurfacing acids, lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) with both exfoliating and hydrating benefits—making this one of my favorite options for people who want smoother, brighter-looking skin without sacrificing moisture.
The formula pairs lactic acid with a peptide complex, humectant system, Saccharomyces ferment, xylinum and black tea ferment to support hydration and skin comfort while resurfacing.
Why I Recommend It
I think of this as my “hydrate + refine” acid serum.
It doesn't give me quite the dramatic glow I get from a stronger glycolic resurfacing product—and that's actually part of its appeal. The effect is gentler: soft, smooth, hydrated skin with subtle plumping and progressive refinement of texture.
I especially like it for people who want the benefits of an AHA but find stronger glycolic products too drying or aggressive.
What Lactic Acid Does
Lactic acid is one of the best-studied alpha-hydroxy acids in skincare. With consistent topical use, research supports its ability to improve skin smoothness and texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In clinical research, 5% topical lactic acid produced surface and epidermal improvements, while higher concentrations produced additional measurable changes in dermal firmness and thickness.
Lactic-acid-containing topical preparations have also demonstrated improvements in skin hydration, although the magnitude of that benefit depends on the concentration and complete formulation.
In other words: exfoliation doesn't necessarily have to mean dryness.
Great For
Dull or rough skin texture
Dehydrated skin that still needs gentle exfoliation
Fine lines and early signs of photoaging
Enlarged or visible pores
Uneven texture
Dry or mature skin
People who find stronger AHAs too aggressive
Adding gentle resurfacing to an anti-aging routine
Key Ingredients
Lactic Acid — A gentle AHA that resurfaces the skin while supporting a smoother, more hydrated appearance.
Peptide Complex — Complements an anti-aging routine and supports the appearance of healthy, resilient skin.
Humectant System — Helps attract and retain water for softer, more supple-looking skin.
Saccharomyces + Black Tea Ferment — Fermented skincare ingredients incorporated into the formula to condition and support the skin.
Xylinum — Part of the formula's skin-conditioning complex.
Free of: Fragrance • Parabens • Oil • Gluten
How to Use
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin and follow with moisturizer as needed. Start several nights per week and increase frequency according to your skin's tolerance.
Because AHAs exfoliate the skin, daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential.
Nicole’s Skin Tip: Pairing With Tretinoin
If prescription tretinoin is already part of your routine, consider alternating your tretinoin and lactic acid nights rather than layering them together.
For example, use your tretinoin one evening and this Lactic Acid Resurfacing Serum on another. This allows you to benefit from retinoid-driven skin renewal and gentle AHA exfoliation while reducing the potential for dryness, peeling and irritation that can occur when multiple active ingredients are used at the same time.
On lactic acid nights, apply to clean, dry skin and follow with a moisturizer. And because both AHAs and retinoids can increase skin sensitivity, daily broad-spectrum SPF is a must.
Sensitive or new-to-actives skin? Start with the lactic acid serum just 1–2 nights per week and increase gradually based on tolerance.
